Artist Biography

Kathleen Yacoe was born in 1946 in Wilmington, Delaware. She received a BFA in art education with a minor in painting from Boston University in 1969 and an MFA in printmaking from the State University of New York in 1979.

She is currently working on a series of paintings which interpret the texture, color and pattern of rock formations. Other work includes mixed media collages and intaglio prints.

She has taught art for over 30 years and for the past 15 years has worked as an artist/teacher at a residential school for troubled boys in Dobbs Ferry, New York. She and her husband Barry have led numerous ‘artist backpacks’ and hikes for the Appalachian Mountain Club and other organizations. These outings have included discussions of various artists as well as instruction on art materials and techniques.

Kathleen is deeply drawn to the Southwest and the landscape that so captivated Georgia O’Keefe and has made a number of trips to the area. As with so many others, the area has been an inspirational force in much of her art work.
