Join Barry and Kathy Skura in Taos. Learn about the art and life of Georgia O’Keeffe, while walking where she walked. Explore mountains and canyons. Integrate that experience into your own artistic vision. You will be staying at the San Geronimo Lodge, an historic, adobe Bed and Breakfast with studio space, wi-fi, pool and hot tub.
Georgia O'Keeffe spent a considerable amount of time in Taos and her history is interwoven with the art history of Taos. O'Keeffe was captivated by the northern New Mexico landscape. "The color! The Color!" she exclaimed upon first seeing the bright rocks and clear air of the region.
Barry Skura, Ph.D, a highly experienced wilderness leader, will take you on easy, non-strenuous hikes to thrilling painting locations in and around the Taos area. Kathy Yacoe Skura, MFA, will provide instruction and guidance on plein air painting techniques, and share anecdotes from O'Keeffe's life and observations on her painting style. Participants will have ample time to devote to their art work – in the environment that so inspired Georgia O’Keefe. The workshop is open to students of all levels.
